“May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.”

"This report is maybe 12-years-old. Parliament buried it, and it stayed buried till River dug it up. This is what they feared she knew. And they were right to fear because there's a whole universe of folk who are gonna know it, too. They're gonna see it. Somebody has to speak for these people. You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, 10, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people . . . better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave." ~ Captain Malcom Reynolds

Short work note

After a busy day training yesterday helping one of the Federal groups out with a class they were running I was on my way home when my partner and I got called out to a local shooting scene... There was some credible information as to where the shooters may have ditched the weapon, and our assistance was wanted for a search.

So we got started and he quickly gave me a good alert in the right area - we looked under the building, but couldn't see anything but I was still confident. That means someone got to go into the crawlspace underneath - since I was already there and involved I figured why not get dirty? This kept the forensics folks happy too, since it meant they got to stay clean... while letting the bomb dog guy crawl around in the neighborhood cat box/trash dump...

Yep - he found it alright - sitting right under there in the dark & trash. I was quite proud of him the whole way home - even though he pretty much just gave me a look like "Duh boss, I TOLD you it was there, like you had to check?"

It does wonders for their self esteem when you constantly doubt them like that!

Oh trust me, I didn't doubt him at the time - gave him a nice bit of praise and then we went and did some nice reward work! It's just funny because his looks are so clear to read & he didn't understand why we actually had to go pick up the gun when he knew where it was.

Sounds like your partner is smarter than my grandparents' old collie. She came to greet me one early morning when I slept over on the couch and was all happy, since I was one of her favorite people... sniff sniff, lick lick, and then my grandfather called her outside for her morning walk.

I was up and eating breakfast when she came in all happy to see me, sniff sniff etc., and then she got this puzzled look on her face and checked the couch to see if I was still there.

They have a funny way of letting you know who the "dumb" one is in the partnership at times. lol. ;) Dogs...gotta love their expressions!
