“May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.”

"This report is maybe 12-years-old. Parliament buried it, and it stayed buried till River dug it up. This is what they feared she knew. And they were right to fear because there's a whole universe of folk who are gonna know it, too. They're gonna see it. Somebody has to speak for these people. You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, 10, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people . . . better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave." ~ Captain Malcom Reynolds

Software repair tip

Just so you all know, threats DO work...

Following a sudden, unexpected & completely random moment this morning whereupon my desktop decided to corrupt the sound card drivers & play no audio, I spent a few frustrating hours trying the standard fixes through Windows Update etc in order to get things back on track. I was just about at the point of deciding I would have to go ahead and go buy a new sound card etc, when I crossly inquired of the computer if perhaps it was time for a round through the chasis to correct the attitude...

For some reason the next patch straightened things out, and now the sound is back fine.

Just a tip to keep in mind...

As a computer technician by trade, and hobby - I can tell you *reams* of storys not unlike this one.

I sometimes think that computer hardware responds to threats of violence better then warm and fuzzy feelings, and that maybe the idea from WH4K of the 'machine spirit' ain't quite so dumb ;)

I have a habit of threatening to turn electronic devices into toasters.

This apparently helps correct any number of issues :)
