Thanks for the good wishes folks, today has been much better all around. While still some sickness floating around the house, folks are on the mend.
The little one does have some teeth coming in on top of things, which is part of her problem - hoping the Tylenol and later bedtime help with things and she has another night of full sleep. Though for my wife's sake, I hope she makes it past 6am this time.
My own sleep was a bit better as well, though I'm still working on my "body clock" as it were. Just going to take a bit to adjust and figure out my best routine.
Still no cop stories to add - being off the road for a bit does that to you, and none of my old shift have gotten into anything good that I can even live through vicariously. I do have bomb squad training going on tomorrow, so maybe we can do something fun and/or stupid to be worth sharing.
Other than that the big weekly event is my inlaws are getting set to head back to Africa, so I'm doing a nice steak dinner for everyone tomorrow night. Picked up the slabs of beef today & will have everything set, then fire up the grill when I get home - it always amazes me that some folks stop cooking outside when September rolls around... I figure if I can still find the thing then the snow can't be too deep!

"This report is maybe 12-years-old. Parliament buried it, and it stayed buried till River dug it up. This is what they feared she knew. And they were right to fear because there's a whole universe of folk who are gonna know it, too. They're gonna see it. Somebody has to speak for these people. You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, 10, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people . . . better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave." ~ Captain Malcom Reynolds

Whoa...bomb training and "stupid" do not go together. "Fun" is fine, "stupid" is not. Must I remind you of Household Rule #1? Don't Be Dead. Thank you. And, yes, dinner was quite delicious!
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks as long as I can stand to be outside long enough to use it, a grill is an all season device :)
That reminds me I have some really good looking steaks I should throw on the grill...
Glad to hear today was better! FYI: Baby Motrin seemed better for molars.
Good luck with the training and enjoy your dinner - what with your other post on brining/marinade, I am sure it will be tasty!
"Bomb squad training"?!? That's hardcore, Sean! Messing with explosives someone else has rigged up is not something most of us would want to do, even those of us who understand the attraction of making things blow up. A good *BOOM* can be quite satisfying....so long as it's done under safe and controlled conditions.
Just make sure you go home after work with all the body parts you had when you went *to* work, OK? Going home with those body parts *undamaged* is even better, and should help keep your loving wife happy.
And BTW, thank you for having the guts to do that crazy sh*t! (Bomb squad or law enforcement, either qualifies on that score. My dad was a cop for about 30 years. You can run into some really scary people/situations in that line of work. But you can also collect some great "no sh*t, there I was..." stories!)
The steaks turned out quite well too - the brine worked nicely for some extra spice & tenderness...
And the bomb squad stuff is something I've done for a bit of time, both here & before hand in the military - still have all my fingers and other parts, so I haven't made any tragic mistakes yet...
though yes, as the lovely wife points out, stupid doesn't really get to go along on those days...
