I think some of society's issues can be summed up in the call I backed a unit on today: Custody dispute where the father in question was having issues picking up his kids from the mother. The part that struck me being that he "wasn't sure what her name was."
You know, I do have an episode or two in my sordid past - but I just can't fathom having a child with someone and not even knowing their gorram name...

"This report is maybe 12-years-old. Parliament buried it, and it stayed buried till River dug it up. This is what they feared she knew. And they were right to fear because there's a whole universe of folk who are gonna know it, too. They're gonna see it. Somebody has to speak for these people. You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, 10, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people . . . better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave." ~ Captain Malcom Reynolds

Good lord, I wonder how many the poor fool has then!
You know...the only one I feel sorry for in that situation is the kid. The kid's already got two strikes down in the count with the obviously stellar parental genetic contributions, and I'm guessing this isn't their first rodeo in which the kid was probably front and center for a tug o' war match. Screw licensing drivers...let's license parenting.
Okay...that last part was a little harsh even for a joke...
He wasn't sure what the kid's name was or the mother's name??? Either way that's wacked...

Sorry, wasn't clear on it - he didn't know the mom's name - presuming he knew the kid since he had the custody papers, but maybe I'm stretching his intellect some...
eff wit of the international variety...
It's totally possible, Sean, that you didn't know their name. Could've been a BAR name...or out of sheer embarrassment they could have changed their name afterward. Just saying.
