For this fraud case.
Summary - guy "invents" device to help detect bombs at a distance, which turns out to be nothing more than a completely non-functional bit of parts. Sells millions of dollars worth to the Iraqi government, amongst others - and is almost certain to thus have contributed to numerous deaths of people who relied on this trash thinking it would help keep them alive.
I'm thinking being dropped off in the middle of a minefield, with only one of his own fake tools to get him to safety...

"This report is maybe 12-years-old. Parliament buried it, and it stayed buried till River dug it up. This is what they feared she knew. And they were right to fear because there's a whole universe of folk who are gonna know it, too. They're gonna see it. Somebody has to speak for these people. You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, 10, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people . . . better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave." ~ Captain Malcom Reynolds

I'm thinking that would be justifiable punishment. :) Need help pushing him out of the airplane?
Question: would the Iraqis have bought it so completely if our own government hadn't swallowed bait, hook, leader and a couple of lead sinkers a few years before?
Actually I don't know of any of our folks using it - but I am out of touch with some of the newest military stuff. I do know how the EOD process works here though, and the testing required...
I think more what happened is that someone higher up bought into the contract, without any testing or eval from the boots on the ground.
