“May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.”

"This report is maybe 12-years-old. Parliament buried it, and it stayed buried till River dug it up. This is what they feared she knew. And they were right to fear because there's a whole universe of folk who are gonna know it, too. They're gonna see it. Somebody has to speak for these people. You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, 10, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people . . . better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave." ~ Captain Malcom Reynolds

Parental Quote of the Century

From Marko:

Reader and occasional commenter ZerCool is sleeping in the guest bedroom. He asked whether he should set the alarm clock, and I just gave him a blank look. A-larm klok? A device that makes you wake up from your sleep? I have heard the Elders speak of those.

I told him that the guest bedroom was right next to the kids’ bedroom, which means that an alarm clock is about as necessary as a kickstand on a submarine.

He pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one (particularly for my poor wife!) One of the most interesting parts of this trip has been the fact that yes, I need to use the alarm to get up early, as opposed to just a tool to let me know when I can't make excuses to hide in the bedroom any longer...

What a great quote! My youngest is a submariner, I'm going to have to share this with him -- the thought of a kickstand on a submarine makes a great visual gag!
